Opera singer Edward Reicin has performed in many opera performances since 1992. As a bass, he has played the roles of Sarastro in Magic Flute and Dr. Grenvil in La Traviata, among others. A lawyer admitted to the American Bar Association, Edward Reicin maintains his membership in the Decalogue Society of Lawyers.

The Decalogue Society is an association of legal professionals with Jewish lineage. Its mission is to promote social justice and improve the administration of law and justice. Each member of the Decalogue Society has the accountability to uphold the law profession’s code of conduct, particularly in leading with integrity.

In the Spring 2022 issue of Tablets, the semi-annual print publication of the Decalogue Society, president Mara S. Ruff said that integrity is a vital characteristic of every lawyer. It involves the demonstration of honesty and truth at all times. Integrity is a necessary “ingredient for a sound, incorruptible, and complete leader.” Ruff said that leading with integrity is not a one-time event but a lifestyle. Over time, it is built through a series of small events through every lawyer’s small decisions where their consistency is demonstrated, consistency is increasingly strengthened, and reputation is built.

Ruff also highlighted that integrity includes the lawyer’s choice to follow through on their promises, admit when they are wrong, and keep themselves away from gossip. Ruff added that every lawyer should arrive on time and be fair, truthful, and true.

Although imperfect, Decalogue Society members share this core value of integrity, Ruff said. She shared her pride in leading such an association of legal professionals and called on the members to continue to impact the people they serve by leading by example.
